State-run Myanmar Railways (MR) has extended the deadline for submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) to upgrade the Yangon Central Railway Station.
Myanmar Railways said (Lower Myanmar) it wants to get more EOI letters from “suitable companies”. The new date is set on January 6.
“Many companies have submitted EOI letters but only a few impressed us. That’s why we extended the period to receive EOI letters from suitable companies,” said U Tun Aung Thin, general manager of Myanmar Railway (Lower Myanmar).
Currently, 60 foreign and local companies have submitted expression of interest (EOI) to upgrade the Yangon Central Railway Station, from which only one will be selected.
The company will have to upgrade the whole station, and will be obligated to build a 20-storey mixed use complex.
Meanwhile, EOIs to upgrade Pazundaung and Kyimyindaing railway stations have also been called.
