Myanmar president to attend G20 summit in Australia as ASEAN chair

YANGON, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Thein Sein will pay a visit to Australia as chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to attend the G20 Summit to be held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, according to an official announcement Wednesday.

At the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, U Thein Sein will joint the summit scheduled for Nov. 15-16. About 4, 000 delegates are expected to attend the most important event in the G20 year.

The summit will discuss a wide range of global economic issues. At the end of the summit, a joint communique, which outlines the G20 policy discussions and commitments, is expected to be released.

Myanmar is the rotating ASEAN chair for 2014.
