Dmitry Medvedev to attend 12-13 November East Asia Summit in Myanmar

During the Ninth East Asia Summit (EAS), the heads of state and government will discuss issues of ensuring security and sustained economic growth in the Asia Pacific Region. They will also discuss expanded cooperation in such high-priority areas as energy, finance, emergency management, healthcare, education and regional interdependence.

There are plans to approve outcome documents on key regional and international issues, including cooperation in such areas as counter-terrorist operations, pandemic prevention and emergency management.

The Russian Prime Minister will also hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.

Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar, will host this year’s East Asia Summit, which was first held in 2005 in order to promote strategic dialogue on security and economic growth between Asia Pacific leaders, as well as practical cooperation. In all, leaders of 18 countries will attend the event.
