Korea Expo 2013 to be launched in Myanmar's Yangon

Korea Expo 2013 will be launched at Tatmadaw Hall in Myanmar's Yangon this month aimed at creating direct deal between customers and manufacturers, local daily reported Monday.

Scheduled to take place from July 26 to 29, the four-day expo organized by KOTRA and Logic Myanmar Co. Ltd will be joined by over 30 large companies including Myanmar and South Korea, said the Daily Eleven.

The companies will feature electronic products, cosmetics, Kimchi, Ginseng and Korean food, furniture, textile and clothing, home decoration materials and stationery.

Meanwhile, under the supervision of Myanmar Foodstuff Manufacturers Association, the third Myanmar Foodstuff Exhibition 2013 was held in Yangon involving 76 Korean companies.

Official statistics show that South Korean investment in Myanmar amounted to 2.979 million US dollars in 77 projects, accounting for merely 7.07 percent of the total as of March 2013 since Myanmar opened to such investment in late 1988 and ranking the fourth in Myanmar's foreign investment line-up.

Bilateral trade between Myanmar and South Korea reached 573.4 million US dollars in 2012, of which Myanmar's export to South Korea accounted for 237.58 million dollars while its import stood at 335.82 million dollars.
