Myanmar, Serbia to cooperate in wide range of sectors

Myanmar and Serbia have vowed to cooperate in a wide range of sectors as their bilateral relations improved, official media reported Friday.

It was touched upon when Myanmar President U Thein Sein met with visiting Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Mrkic in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday, reported the New Light of Myanmar.

Topping their discussions were cooperation in education and culture, and investment in energy, forest, rubber and foods production as well as cooperation of Serbia in development sector of Myanmar.

According to the official report, Mrkic also met with speaker of Myanmar's parliamentary House of Representatives U Shwe Mann and Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin.

Both sides called for further promoting amity between the two governments, the two parliaments and the two peoples.

Myanmar's economic reform and democratization process were also covered by their respective talks.

Myanmar ambassador to Serbia has been appointed in Belgrade and arrangement is being made by Serbia to name an ambassador to Myanmar in coming May.
