International commodity center to be built in Myanmar

New Myanmar Trade and Commodity Exchange Center will be built soon next to the office of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).

The plan was approved at the workshop on Development of Wholesales Commodity Exchanges in early February in Yangon.

Officials from the Ministry of Commerce, business organizations and many business persons attended the workshop and discussed about the development of the country economy sector.

The construction of the center will be cooperated by the UMFCCI and its partner organizations, and wholesales dealers. Public companies and general public would be invited to join the investment for construction.

Myanmar has totally 44 commodity exchange centers functioning in Yangon and other regions and states. Bayintnaung center, the biggest one in the country, has launched its E-information system for business since 2008.

The Ministry of Commerce has discussed about the trade policies not only with business experts of the country but also with those of ASEAN and other regional countries to develop more commodity exchange centers.
