Myanmar's garment export amounted to
about 770 million U.S. dollars in 2011, approaching the figure of 829
mln USD in 2001, the highest annual earning, a local media quoted
secretary of Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association ( MGMA) as saying
Thursday.
Japanese market took the biggest share
of Myanmar's garment export, earning 348 mln USD in 2011, compared with
183 mln USD in 2010, said the Street View News.
As for South Korean market, Myanmar's garment export fetched 232 mln USD in 2011, compared with 124 mln USD in 2010.
There are nearly 150 garment factories scattered in Yangon.
Myanmar has exported garments mainly to
Japan, Germany, South Korea and European countries in the past, but in
recent years, the market extended to Brazil, Argentina, South Africa and
Turkey.
