Philippines, Myanmar to set up trade, investment promotion panel

The Philippines and Myanmar have agreed to set up a joint panel to promote bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, aviation and other fields, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday.

The panel will hold its first meeting in Manila in June.

Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario concluded the agreement during a visit to Myanmar this week, the department said in statement.

Del Rosario met with Myanmar President Thein Sein in the Myanmar administrative capital Naypyitaw and voiced support for the democratic reforms launched by the Thein Sein government.
