Myanmar to build int'l standard sports ground in Mandalay

Myanmar sports authorities will build a national sports ground including football stadium in line with international standard in Mandalay, the second largest city of the country, according to a local media reported Friday.

The football stadium covering an area of 43,710 square meter can hold 30,589 spectators.

The Max Myanmar private company group will take the construction of the national garden which is expected to be completed by 2013, the Yangon Times said.

The construction includes football academy training center, standardized football stadium and the sports areas related to tennis, shooting, cycling, swimming, weightlifting, archery, sepak takraw and bowling.

Meanwhile, Myanmar sports authorities have mobilized about 12,000 young volunteers to serve in communication for the upcoming 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The 27th SEA Games will be hosted by Myanmar in three major cities of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay in December 2013.
