Myanmar-China crude oil pipeline project to complete in 2013

Union Minister for Energy U Than Htay yesterday called for making efforts for completion of the Myanmar-China crude oil pipeline project across Myitnge River to complete in 2013.

The Union Minister set the deadline during his visit to the pipeline bridge project which is under construction by CNPC, South East Asia Pipeline Company, and a part of the project for transporting crude oil and natural gas from Myanmar to China. Over 64. 5 per cent of the construction of the bridge has been finished.

During the inspection tour of the project, the Union Minister heard reports on the project presented by Vice-President of CNPC Mr. Cui Xin Hua and urged responsible personnel of the project to help employees of the ministry improve their pipeline construction technology, to use domestically produced materials if their quality is the same to the imported ones, to use land as little as possible and to help fertilization of the lands which are temporarily used for the project upon completion.

The Union Minister also visited the site chosen for construction of the transportation and maintenance station for the China-Myanmar Oil and Gas pipeline.

He visited the main storage and distribution centre of Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise under the ministry in Mandalay and inspected distribution of oil and fire preventive measures.
